Who we are

What we collect

  • Newsletter sign-ups: your email address and the page you signed up from.
  • Resource downloads: your email address and, if you choose to give them, your name, organization and role.
  • Contact and advertising forms: your name, email address, organization (optional) and message.
  • Staff accounts: login details for the people who run the site.
  • Technical logs: our hosting provider automatically records standard request information, such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested, to operate and secure the site.

Advertising

EdTech Current shows ads served by Google AdSense. Ads are labeled, and advertisers have no say over our coverage.

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website and other websites.
  • Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and other sites on the internet.
  • You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings. You can opt out of some other vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at aboutads.info or, in Europe, youronlinechoices.eu.
  • Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland are asked for consent through Google's consent message before personalized ads are shown, and can change that choice at any time.
  • Google explains how it uses information from sites that use its services.

We don't use analytics trackers.

Embedded videos

Our Watch page and homepage show videos hosted on YouTube. Video thumbnails load from YouTube's image servers. When you press play, the video loads from YouTube in its privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com), and YouTube may then set cookies and collect information under Google's privacy policy.

Cookies

We use cookies that the site needs to work, and our advertising partner Google sets advertising cookies:

  • When you request a gated resource, a cookie (named lm_ followed by a number) lets you download it without signing up again. It expires after 30 days.
  • Logged-in staff receive a session cookie for the admin area.
  • Google AdSense sets cookies to serve, measure and limit the frequency of ads, and to personalize ads where you allow it. See Advertising above.

How we use information

To send the newsletter and resources you ask for, reply to your messages, operate and secure the site, show advertising that pays for our journalism, and understand demand for our resources.

Who we share it with

We don't sell or rent personal information. We use service providers to run the site: Vercel (hosting), Supabase (database) and Cloudflare (file storage and delivery). They process data on our behalf. Google receives information such as your IP address, browser details and the pages you visit when its ad code loads, under Google's privacy policy.

Links that go through /go/ count clicks in total. We don't record who clicked. Once you reach a retailer's site, that retailer's privacy policy applies.

How long we keep it

Newsletter details are kept until you unsubscribe. Inquiries and download requests are kept as long as needed to respond and to keep reasonable business records. You can ask us to delete your information at any time.

Your choices and rights

You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time, using the link in any issue or by emailing us. You can ask to see, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you by writing to editor@edtechcurrent.com. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local law.

Children

EdTech Current is written for adults working in education. It isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their personal information.

Changes

We'll post any changes to this policy on this page and update the effective date.
